Well, the 2019 Springerville Rib Throwdown is in the books. Ended up taking 1st in the bacon category and 15th in Ribs. Not too shabby for 33 teams. Congrats to Roughstock BBQ for RGC and DJ's Smokin' BBQ for GC.

On top of that, I was lucky enough to take the Beef Category win with a Tri Tip and bacon-wrapped asparagus bundle. For this win, I took home (well, my Brother did 😋) a new Weber Spirit II E-310 gas grill.
A HUGE congrats to Lip Smack'n BBQ for their pork win and to Knife, Pork and Spoon for both their win in Chicken and winning Overall!

Read MoreMy first time doing a BCS event solo. It was in Tucson, AZ. And it SNOWED! I couldn’t believe it! I actually drove in and set up shop int he snow! Let me tell you, that is an experience I won’t soon forget. I won’t be forgetting this event anytime soon as well. Not only was I set up right next to my Bootcamp BBQ buddy, Dennis, but I ended up going home with a 2nd place ribs and 9th place pork calls! Out of 31 teams I came out 7th overall. Such an amazing experience. I think I am getting the hang of this BBQ thing.
Read MoreThe 2018 SCA Steak Spooktacular is in the books. Not only was it an absolutely fun event, but I received my first 1st Place call. Burger Champion! Yes, I know it was an SCA event, but there was a Wing and Burger side categories. I ended up taking 10th in Wings as well, but my Lamb Greek Burger apparently WOW’d the judges. This bad boy is proudly displayed on my mantle!

It was only a 9th place call, but being only my 2nd competition as my own team, and out of 21 teams it is definitely not something to look past. I just need to get the recipe dialed in and smoke the competition next time!
